Job Description

XY DIGITAL is hiring a Senior Power BI Developer to join the Common Digital Platforms team within the Department of Government Enablement (Gov Digital) in Abu Dhabi. This is a strategic and hands-on role focused on designing and delivering interactive dashboards, BI solutions, and data models that empower key decision-makers across the government.


Interview Process

  • Start Date: Immediate

  • Contract: Long-term / Full-time (Remote)


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective BI solutions

  • Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in Power BI using best practices for usability and performance

  • Optimize existing Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards for speed, scalability, and clarity

  • Design and implement robust data models using DAX and Power Query (M)

  • Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL Server, Excel, APIs, etc.) and ensure data accuracy and consistency

  • Define and implement Row-Level Security (RLS) where needed

  • Document solutions clearly, from data definitions to dashboard usage guides

  • Act as a mentor to junior BI developers and provide code reviews and guidance

  • Stay updated on Power BI features, Microsoft Fabric, and industry trends to continuously improve solutions

  • Support troubleshooting and provide post-deployment maintenance and enhancements


Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years in business intelligence development

  • At least 5 years working with Power BI

  • Strong expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling

  • Advanced SQL knowledge (e.g., SQL Server, Azure SQL)

  • Experience with large datasets and enterprise-grade environments

  • Proficient with Power BI Service: workspaces, apps, pipelines, access control

  • Clear communicator with ability to translate business needs into BI tools

  • Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)


Skill & Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse

  • Familiarity with Power Automate

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for Power BI

  • Microsoft Certifications (PL-300, PL-600) are a plus
